Dementia Friendly Iowa
Across the state, Iowans have become Dementia Friends by learning about dementia, what it’s like to live with the disease, and tips for communicating with people who have dementia to create an inclusive community for those living with dementia. Listen to Kevin Dill, an Iowan living with dementia, share his story and offer ways that you can help those like him in your community.
After becoming a Dementia Friend, one participant said, “I have been calling my grandma more often and am being more patient with her. I often get frustrated with her or interrupt her stories if I have already heard them before. But Dementia Friends helped me to be more considerate when talking with her, and feel less scared to talk to her.”
